I've been dealing with severe acne for years now. My dermatologist suggested trying either Neotrex or Accutane. Could anyone share their experiences with these medications? What are the pros and cons of each?

Neotrex: It’s an oral medication that works by reducing oil production in your skin, which can help control acne. For me, it took about four to six weeks before I started seeing improvements. Accutane: This one is a bit more powerful and is typically reserved for severe cases when other treatments haven’t worked. It can completely change your skin texture, making it much less oily and reducing inflammation. However, the side effects are significant, including potential liver issues, joint pain, and mood changes.

I went through Accutane about a year ago for my acne. The results were amazing – my skin has been clear ever since! But it did come with some downsides. I had really dry skin, chapped lips, and even some joint pain. It’s also not recommended if you’re pregnant or planning to get pregnant due to potential birth defects.
